Who Is Jesus Christ?

who is jesus

So you are here to find out who is Jesus Christ? He is the Son of God who actually walked on this earth over 2,000 years ago.

So Is Jesus the Son of God?

An event happened here on earth that changed how we view time itself. When Jesus came our calendars changed!

At that time it was a huge event to mark the birth of the son of God. This is because many people at that time actually saw Him and saw all His miracles.

An ancient city

The earth is billions of years old, but after Jesus came our actual calendars that we use today is based on Him coming to this earth!

So if the year is say now 2020 then that means 2,020 years (AD) has passed since the Lord Jesus arrived. Any time before Jesus Christ or BC, means Before Christ.

Current history words that we use today are the terms AD (which means Anno Domini, a Latin word for “in the year of the Lord” as per Wikipedia) and BC (Before Christ).

Isn’t that amazing that whenever we write our current date, for example January 1, 2020 we are actually saying it’s been 2,020 years since Jesus came here on earth!

Here is a quick movie trailer about Jesus (an actual movie was made about Jesus in the movie theaters called, “Son of God.”)

If you want to watch the “Son of God” movie you can find details for it on Youtube or you can rent or buy it from iTunes. I loved it so much that I bought at iTunes under the movie section.

When we look at this beautiful earth we must know that some higher being created this earth. Just look at all the perfect details of the earth.

The virgin mary, baby Jesus and Joseph

It is God our creator who thought about all these details. God also thought about the need for Jesus who is the son of God. Jesus was divinely born from a virgin (Mary).

Imagine being a virgin (her name was Mary) and an angel appears to you telling you that you will be carrying the son of God in your womb.

Mary’s fiancé (Joseph) didn’t believe her about her pregnancy, but an angel of God appeared to him and told him that it was true. The angel told Joseph to still marry her even though she was pregnant without knowing a man.

So Who Is Jesus Christ and Why Is He Important?

1. Jesus Came To Forgive All Our Sins

Forgive

The Bible (which is the Holy book Christians read) talks about Jesus as, “…the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 NIV.

Jesus eventually died through crucifixion because people at that time did not like the fact that He said He is the son of God. They didn’t want to believe in all the miracles that they could see with their own eyes.

Jesus knew He was going to die before anyone else did. He told all his disciples not to worry about His death because He would rise again from the dead.

People saw Him after He physically died on the cross and was buried. The Bible says, “… Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles …” 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 NIV.

Crucifixion of Jesus

It also says, “if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:1-2 NIV.

The weight of sin in our lives can be a heavy burden to constantly carry with us. Jesus wants us to let go of our sin and He will forgive us of all our sins. Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11: 28 NIV.

Jesus can forgive all of your sins. All you have to do is pray and ask Him to forgive you.

2. Believing in Jesus Leads to Heaven

So who is Jesus and why did Jesus come here? He came to save us from what awaits us after we die.

Heaven's gates

The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”John 3:16

If we believe in Jesus and lead a Christian life, heaven is waiting for us. When we die we move on into an eternal life based on how we lived on earth.

He also came to take away all the shame and guilt that we have from all our sins or mistakes.

The Bible also says, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.” John 3:36

It’s so easy to not believe in Jesus. It takes no effort.

It’s actually harder to believe, because we are trusting that heaven is waiting for us after we die. I would rather be safe than sorry.

The Bible tells us that what we see now is just temporary, but to be more concerned about the eternal which is unseen.

That message comes from the Bible in 2 Corinthians 4:18, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

staircase to heaven

When Jesus was here on earth He performed many miracles like healing the blind or the sick, driving out demons out of people, He walked on water, but most importantly he came to warn us that there is an eternal life after this earth.

Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NIV.

So this means Jesus is the bridge between mankind and God the father. We are not to pray to a saint/person. There is no mention in the Bible of praying to saints/people.

It’s important to note this, so that you know for your own sake.

3. Believing in Jesus Eventually Causes Miracles To Happen in Your Life

I experienced several miracles and answers to prayers in my life. I will give you an example of a miracle that I experienced in my life.

miracle of walking again

I have scoliosis and needed a metal rod to be put on my spine to correct a curved spine. So if I have a hard fall I could easily break my back and become paralyzed.

One day I was in a building and I took the staircase to go down to the next level. When I was at the top of the staircase I tripped. Within a second I could feel myself falling and immediately I felt terrified.

What happened next was a miracle, because I safely landed at the bottom of a large set of stairs. No harm done, not even a scratch.

I didn’t tumble down the staircase but bypassed the whole flight of stairs and was safely down to the next level.

It was such a soft landing on my feet. I looked at my arms and I could see that they were not at my sides but were lifted up to shoulder level.

It was like an angel stretched out my arms and carried me to the bottom of that large staircase.

When I was at the bottom of the staircase I remember looking back at the staircase wondering, “How did I not hit the middle of that large flight of stairs?” It was unreal.

No one could jump that many stairs and land safely on their feet. They should hit the middle of it and I landed softly on my feet.

That fall could have broken my back, but it was a miracle that I landed gently on my feet!

Many Christians can tell you of miracles that they had and answers to prayers.

Angel in the clouds

The Bible says, “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Ps 121: 7-8.

Another example of a miracle is from my sister when she became a really strong Christian in her early 20’s. She was coming home late from church one night.

She was walking down a dark road when a man approached her and demanded all her money. She said, “No, I will not give you my money. Jesus is going to protect me.”

Then the man stopped and just looked at her. He took out a quarter and gave it to her. Then he asked her to drop that quarter in the offering at church for him.

He also asked her if she wanted him to walk her safely home. She said, “No, thanks.” Then he left.

I asked her, “Did you give that quarter to the church?” She said, “Yes, I sure did!”

Wow, a man who wanted to rob her ended up giving her his money to give to the church! Talk about a miracle.
